Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Roundtable, a collaborative family-tree app available at famroundtable.com (the “Service”), operated by Roundtable (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use the Service.

1. The Service

Roundtable lets families build a shared family tree together. There are no accounts: a tree is a “board” identified by a short code that you share with the people you want to collaborate with. Anyone who has a board’s code can view it, and (during the free period, or while the board is on a paid plan) add to and edit it.

2. Your responsibility for board codes

Because access is controlled by the board code rather than by logins, you are responsible for who you share a code with. Share codes only with people you trust. We can’t verify the identity of anyone using a code.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Add content you don’t have the right to share, or that infringes someone’s rights;
• Post unlawful, harassing, hateful, or abusive content;
• Add private or sensitive information about a living person without a lawful basis or their consent;
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure;
• Use the Service to violate any applicable law.

We may remove content or restrict access that we reasonably believe violates these Terms.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the information and photos you add (“Content”). By adding Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and process it solely to operate and provide the Service — including displaying it to others who have the board code. You represent that you have the rights necessary to share the Content you add.

5. Free use, subscriptions, and payments

• Free to build. Starting and building a board is free.
• Free period, then read-only. After a board’s free period, an unpaid board becomes read-only — it stays fully viewable to anyone with the code, but no new edits can be made until someone subscribes.
• Subscription. An optional subscription (currently US$19.99 per year) keeps a board editable. It renews automatically each year until cancelled.
• Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe. We don’t receive or store your card details. Applicable taxes may be added at checkout.
• Cancellation. You can cancel at any time; the board stays editable until the end of the paid period, then returns to read-only. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.

6. Availability

We work to keep the Service running but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or permanently available. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Content on a board is accurate — it is supplied by users.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Roundtable and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$20.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Roundtable and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your Content or your use of the Service in breach of these Terms.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States of America, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Florida, except where applicable law grants you rights in your own jurisdiction.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
